Children's Resources: Shows on Prime

We've been kicking off the new year, thinking about new babes. Whether your family has recently grown or not, I think we all find moments in your weeks where a show can be a helpful tool for putting a baby down to nap, sitting through a sibling's appointment or online schooling, or just to grab a shower. Our houses probably have their favorite shows, but this month I wanted to share a few shows that you may not know you can stream for free on Amazon Prime.

Owlegories

Each 15 minute episode shows 5 owl students as they learn from the teacher about God and the Bible. Each episode is themed with a theme like fruit or water and how it relates to God. The episodes are animated but end with a pastor, author or teacher explaining each message further. Suggested age: 4-8

Davey and Goliath

This program from the 1960's and 70's has an older animation feel, but shares messages of faith and moral themes. Suggested age: 4-8

Adventures in Odyssey

Do your kids love listening to about Mr. Whittacker and his imagination station? The radio program has been made into a series of episodes with similar faith based themes. Suggest age: 7-12

Torchlighters

These half an hour episodes highlight historical heroes of Christian faith. Episodes highlight inviduals like Jim Elliot, Amy Carmichael and Corrie Ten Boom. Suggested age: 8-12

Superbook

Superbook takes two friends and one robot back into the Bible to be part of some of the most well known stories. On these adventures, these friends are inserted into the action to meet Biblical heroes like Abraham, Ruth, David and even Jesus.

There are several Christian streaming options out there that I haven't tried filled with far more programs than this, but I wanted to highlight a few that may be free to your family already if you use Prime like many of us in Los Alamos for their two day (well...more like 4-5 day shipping).

These programs can be great for starting to discussions or making your kids excited about a story in the Bible, but they are not perfect. I do hope that if you use them, they can be encouraging to your children's faith as they are able to visualize what it looks like to hear God's Word and live it out.

I love to find new shows via word of mouth. What shows are your family's favorites?!
