Maybe podcasts seem like an odd choice for a resource in days when very few of us are spending time in the car or heading out on road trips, but podcasts have been a big hit for my family during our COVID days. We’ve listened on car trips, during quiet times, or when I just need a low-prep activity for my kids! Below are some of my personal favorites as well as recommendations gleaned from ladies at Crossroads.
Jesus is Better: Bible Stories with Gospel Joy
Alicia Yoder summarizes her podcast like this: “Have you ever wondered why God included certain stories in the Bible? The Bible is meant to show us Jesus and his glorious gospel, yet often we get stuck focusing only on Bible heroes or bad guys with our kids.
“In each episode, I will be storytelling a passage from the Bible, look at the choices that were made and how God is at work, and then show how God does the same for us–only better–in Jesus. You can play it for your kids, or listen alongside them!”
Ideal age: 5-10
What I love: In each 15-25 minute episode, she retells the Bible stories in more detail than typically included in any children’s Bible. She takes her time going through Scripture to give a fuller picture of each book of the Bible. I especially appreciate her presentation of Old Testament stories pointing to fulfillment in Christ.Where to Listen: Find this podcast wherever you listen to podcasts or Alicia Yoder’s blog.
Episodes are about 16 minutes each.
Ideal age: 3-7
What I love: Each episode is broken into segments: retelling the story, reading Scripture, game time review, and a worship song. This helps meet the needs of a younger audience. Because they ask kids to turn to specific Scripture, this podcast was really helpful in my oldest gaining an interest in learning how to find specific books, chapters, and verses in her Bible.

Keys for Kids ministry offers daily audio devotionals for kids and teens (Unlocked devotion and podcast) as well as a variety of programs on demand and on their radio station. Programs include music, audio drama, Adventures in Odyssey and Jungle Jam.
What I Love: This resource is brand new to me, so I expect I’ve barely scratched the surface--but I love that this resource offers a variety of options for a broad range of ages. Programs include everything from from devotions and audio drama to music.
Ideal age: 4+ (There are so many programs--each with different ideal age groups. Check out the Radio shows list for more info!)
Where to Listen: Visit Keys for Kids to check out all the listening options or download their app to your phone.

Ideal age: 8+
What I Love: My kids enjoy Adventures in Odyssey as much as a TV show. (As my 4-and-5-year-olds are under the suggested listening age, I do prescreen episodes for content that may be too mature or scary.) These stories use adventure and imagination with recurring characters to encourage virtue and faith in action. We see characters struggle along the way to grow in trust of God, selflessness, joy, patience, and love.
Where to Listen: You can access 900+ episodes by becoming a member of the Adventures in Odyssey Club (or just enjoy the 28 day free trial).

God’s Big Story
God’s Big Story is created by The Village Church (home church to Jen Wilkin, if you’ve done any of her Bible studies with us at T@C!). This podcast starts with Jesus as a boy in the temple and works through the life of Jesus in Season One. Season Two begins with Acts and the early church.Episodes are about 16 minutes each.

Adventures in Odyssey
Adventures in Odyssey are 25 minute radio dramas that use stories to teach Biblical ideas. For many 90’s-era church kids, this will be a blast from the past!Ideal age: 8+
