2020 Summer Study Options

Ladies,

Both the newsletter and your invitations to Bible study are in the mail—but even if you don't receive either or both, you're invited to Crossroads' Women's summer Bible studies!

We're offering four studies—all done in a very small group setting—or by Zoom. It all depends on your comfort level and convenience.

Mom Set Free by Jeannie Cunnion
As moms, we’re under constant pressure. We have to get it right in all areas of life—work, home, family, and faith—because our children’s futures hinge on our ability to perfectly orchestrate the present.

But those impossible standards leave us oscillating between worry, fear, anger, and shame. They threaten to steal all the wonder from parenting, life, and our personal relationship with God.

In this 7-session study, discover how the gospel message can empower you to parent in the freedom of God’s sovereignty. So that you can breathe deeper, walk lighter, and enjoy your children—and the parenting journey—more than ever before.

Highlights:
  • Thrive in what God has asked you to carry by abandoning all He hasn’t asked of you.
  • Embrace your significance in your children’s lives in light of God’s sovereignty.
  • Trust God with the children He has entrusted to you.
  • Receive the Lord’s grace, so you can reflect that grace to your children.
  • Learn to stop trying so hard, and allow yourself to simply enjoy your kids.

Building a Marriage That Really Works by Kay Arthur, David and B.J. Lawson
A Blueprint for Building a Love that Lasts

Marriage begins with visions of eternal love, hope, and happiness. Yet, even among Christians, hope too quickly fades. The happiness dims. And love seems too hard to sustain.

It doesn’t have to be that way. God designed marriage to be a satisfying, fulfilling relationship, and He created men and women so that they–together, and as one flesh–could reflect His love for the world. Marriage, when lived out as God intended, makes us complete, it brings us joy, and gives our lives fresh meaning.

This six session, 40-minute, no homework study features an inductive lesson designed by the teaching team at Precepts Ministries international. Each book includes Bible passages and leader notes in a self-contained study.
Highlights:
  • Examine God's design for marriage and learn what it means to be a godly husband or wife.
  • Discover biblical wisdom for pursuing harmony in difficult areas like finances or communication.
  • Learn principles you need to build a love that lasts.

Breaking Free From Fear by Kay Arthur
Life is filled with all sorts of fears that can assault your mind, trouble your soul, and bring untold stress. But you don’t have to remain captive to your fears.

In this six-week study you will learn how to confront your circumstances with strength and courage as you live in the fear of the Lord—the fear that conquers every other fear and sets you free to live in faith.

This six session, 40-minute, no homework study features an inductive lesson designed by the teaching team at Precepts Ministries international. Each book includes Bible passages and leader notes in a self-contained study.

Highlights:
  • Discover for yourself what God says and how it applies to your life today.
  • Learn to confront your circumstances with strength and courage.
  • Discover the fear of the Lord which conquers every other fear and frees you to live in faith.

The Letters of 1, 2 & 3 John were written to encourage followers of Jesus to remain faithful to the truth. Believers are challenged to look at contrasting themes such as walking in the light instead of darkness, truth versus lies and deception, loving God more than loving the world, and the meaning of true fellowship and community rather than shallowness.

This 6-session study not only reveals the heart of John but also the heart of Jesus. A great addition to The Living Room Series, this study includes recipes and a more relational approach.

Highlights:
  • Discover the heart of Jesus.
  • Understand true fellowship and its value over shallow friendships.
  • Learn what it means to love God more than the world.

Once you know which study you want to do this summer, order your book (see links above--cost of study is only the cost of the book).

Submit your registration form--you should be receiving it via email and snail mail this week--and we will get back to you ASAP to confirm your group.

Your facilitator will be in touch to determine time (and place, if not on Zoom) of your meeting.

Please feel free to email the summer study team at cbcwomensministryla@gmail.com if you have questions!
